What would you do if your database crashed tonight? What if your web host runs into issues? There are so many different reasons as to why you should have a backup and not really many at all not to have one. Imagine having all of your hard work and data saved easily retrievable. But that costs a lot? Nope! It′s not only free but its also even simple to set up your WordPress backup for free. In this post you can read what plugin I recommend and how to install it.
After my first blog crashed and I lost a lot of time and effort I decided to find a backup plugin that could help keep my work safe. So I went online to read about what to do. The answer was simple and clear: Get a plugin to backup your systems. I had some requirements on the plugin I would use. I wanted it to be able to backup automatically at set times, to be able to sync with Google Drive since they offer 15 GB storage online for free and it would preferably be free. Very useful when you want to set up a WordPress backup for free.
Thanks to the broad variety of different plugins available I was able to find a plugin that could my backup system while meeting all of these requirements in a heartbeat. When I find a new plugin I usually test it thoroughly to see if it fits my needs. I am very picky when it comes to this and if I am not happy with a plugin I usually do not wait very long with replacing it or at least trying another alternative.
WordPress Backup for Free
The plugin I decided to try out first was “UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore“. Thanks to some list which I unfortunately do not remember the name of anymore I found that plugin. I do not advertise for them and I am not getting paid or any reimbursement for this post I just want to spread the word of a good service. I installed it and tried it and never looked back. Hopefully it can help you out as well.
It is super easy to set up even for someone that has no clue on how to do it because they have a utterly thorough step by step guide to help you get set up. It will not cost you a single dime to install or use this plugin unless you want some extra services. Support is not included in the free version but I doubt that you will need it.
Because I use Gmail I can backup my blogs to the Google Drive account linked to it. So it is super easy, free and the best thing with it all? You only need to set it up once and set it to automatic mode, the plugin will do the rest. Voila!
When you are ready to set up your WordPress backup for free you simply need to:
- Click “Plugins” in the admin area of your WordPress blog.
- Click “Add Plugin”
- Search for “UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore”
- Install it & and activate it
- Go to settings mode and follow the guide, in a matter of minutes you will be all done!
- Test it to make sure it works!!
- Like and share this post if you found it useful! 😉
